The Jaguar F-Type has become an instant favorite of enthusiasts for its attractive design, powerful sound and rewarding handling engines. In short, it is a worthy successor to the iconic mid-century E-Type. But Jaguar has not been sitting idly by, and continues to refine and improve the F-Type with subtle but significant improvements, including a bunch that are debuting this week at the Auto Show in Los Angeles.

The 2016 model year brings with it all-wheel drive, which is standard on the R type models F 550 horsepower. AWD is optional on S models F-type intermediate, which direct the V6 380 hp. The system sends all the supercharged engine torque to the rear axle, in the default mode, but can also be subdivided with up to 50 percent to the front axle, when needed. Jaguar even added subtle visual differentiators for AWD models, equipping rocker color and a new hood design. Worth it? the AWD system adds about 176 pounds to the curb weight.

The F-Type also gets a six-speed manual transmission available for 2016 V6 versions with rear wheel drive. While obviously adding a more interactive nature of conduct, the manual close-ratio is about 22 pounds lighter than the automatic transmission. Jaguar also gave all F-type electric power steering models, using a stiffer shaft direction to maintain feel connected to the hydraulic system with the road.
