The Ivorian linked well with Fernandinho to help Manuel Pellegrini's men come from a goal down to beat men Garry Monk to Etihad Stadium

Yaya Toure was the match-winner as Manchester City emerged from their recent slump by coming from behind to beat Swansea City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The champions of the Premier League came into Saturday's game with just one win in their last six matches in all competitions and face Bayern Munich on Tuesday with their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

Wilfried Bony has the most weaknesses among the team of Manuel Pellegrini handing Swansea an early lead at the Etihad, but Stevan Jovetic recalled before equalized after 19 minutes.

Less than his midfield talisman Toure performances have often defined the malaise of the city of this term, but the Ivory Coast international made his trademark combination of power and balance to compensate decisive 17 minutes in the second half.

Swansea boss Garry Monk has cleverly used his substitutions to develop a dramatic finish, with Bafetimbi Gomis replacements and Jonjo Shelvey came close to achieving a share of the spoils.

Pellegrini's men remain eight points behind leaders Chelsea, but almost to a point of Southampton before the second place team travel Ronald Koeman at Aston Villa on Monday.

Captain Vincent Kompany back from a calf problem for the home team but a similar complaint Edin Dzeko meant Jovetic started in attack.

Shelvey had to settle for a place on the bench after a Swansea game suspension, while Nathan Dyer returned to the starting XI and winger played a key role in the opening goal after nine minutes.

As so often this season, the defensive vulnerability Champions was full when Bony loaded onto a chipped return pass from Dyer to coolly slot past Joe Hart.

There was little conviction in the response of the city until Touré released winger Jesus Navas and Spain fizzed in a great low cross from right to left Jovetic equalized with a simple finish.

Swansea defender Kyle Bartley has been reserved for a robust 23rd minute tackle on Sergio Aguero before an aerial challenge between Kompany and Neil Taylor left the full return visit with an eye to cutting - two incidents that gave a spirited advantage to a period of opening that threatened to overflow when Bartley and Aguero clashed once more.
